I start weaving a basket with an idea or feeling in mind. As I weave, the piece reveals itself to me. It’s a conversation that I engage in with each basket. I tell it what I want it to do, and it tells me what it wants to do. Sometimes I have to set a piece aside for days, or even weeks, as I’m awaiting the next inspiration for what to weave next. In the end, I’m always pleased with the result. I enjoy weaving complex patterns and shapes. I push myself to do the most difficult weaving I can conceive. By constantly challenging myself to weave in new ways that I haven’t seen before, the resulting baskets and pieces are full of personality and life.
