Blue Moon Rising
H: 5" | W: 10-1/2"" | D: 9""

I made my “Blue Moon Rising” pine needle basket using dyed dark blue Longleaf pine needles and stitched it together with denim blue Irish waxed linen thread. I used beautiful handmade full blue moon glass lampwork beads and placed them around the basket on both sides as if the moon is rising to the sky. I used a colorful Blue Mountain jasper stone set in resin for the center base.

I learned from a friend in 1986 how to make pine needle baskets, and I have had a passion for this craft ever since. A bit of my spirit goes into each of my one-of-a-kind basket creations. Most tell a story about something memorable in my life. My colorful baskets are both functional and decorative and are heirloom quality. I hope my baskets will provide some of the peace and happiness they bring me as I am making them.Even after all of this time, I am still amazed at how something as simple as a bundle of pine needles can be transformed into something useful and beautiful. My baskets are an eclectic collection based on many years of self-taught experimentation of playing with pine needles! Enjoy! My blog: https://giggybaskets.blogspot.com
