Artist Statement:
As a studio textile artist for over 50 years, I have always found pleasure in using fabrics for creative expression. Recent explorations of the sculptural possibilities of fabric as container/vessel have fostered spiritual awareness and personal insight. My current direction involves the theme of fragility both in nature and relationships. The cutting of fabric strips, textural layering, and construction process is always challenging as is life and I find the long hours of hand and machine embroidery of these fabric layers meditative, rhythmically soothing and therapeutic. I have exhibited in national and international exhibitions and have work in public and private collections in the U.S. and in 9 countries.
