Since I wanted a shape that would be more organic than a symmetrical shape, I twisted and pulled this basket as I made it. After each coil I tie a knot which gives the basket extra strength and creates a coiled look on one side and a rough surface on the other.

It all started with a dream. I dreamed I was creating beaded bowls. A few days later I was having lunch with a good friend of mine. I did not tell her about my dream, but out of the blue she told me that she had the strangest dream about me. Our dreams were nearly the same. I decided this must be a message from the spirits and I tried it. This happened 25 years ago and I have loved it ever since.
I like making big dramatic pieces and I was obsessed with figuring out the bowl thing.
It morphed into baskets like the one entered here It averages between 100 and 125 hours to make one basket.
