My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a child & ever since then, holding in my hands a continuous, flexible line in space has enchanted & motivated me. Whether yarn, wire, floss, rope, or any of the other myriad fibers one can imagine, manipulating a continuous line into 3 dimensions still inspires me. Self-taught in needle lace techniques, I longed to move these stitches into 3-dimensional space. So, I have developed a way to use these stitches, called “punta in aria,” literally “stitches in the air,” to create these airy vessels.
