Twined with 7-ply waxed linen, these “huts” are inspired by the painted earth architecture of the Kassena women in the village of Tiébélé, Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Artist Statement:
I took my first waxed linen workshop with Nancy Moore Bess in 2001 but it took me another 17 years to take the next one, this time with Lois Russell. I was hooked! What is better than the feel of waxed linen and the delicious range of colors? And what if your sweater design background means that you find working with graph paper easy? Twining is addictive, especially when you have no choice but to hibernate for 13 months during a pandemic. These baskets are numbers 13, 14, and 15 in my COVID Collection!
