Artist Statement:
I began weaving baskets and sculptures in 1997. My materials include cedar bark, white and black ash, cane, sweet grass, waxed linen and hand-spun yarn. All of my weavings have evolved from traditional concepts to contemporary sculptural art. My inspiration comes from nature. I recycle “found” natural outdoor treasures. Many of my baskets are woven around driftwood and antlers. My sculptures are adorned with acorns, shells, pine cones, sea glass, seed pods and other interesting treasures. My work reflects the beauty I see in the world around me and the natural surroundings here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
