Random woven wall hanging, twining of waxed linen: Constructed from hundreds of (expired/retired) business rack cards from The Pier Aquarium, Florida CraftArt, the Florida State Fair, Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 2019 calendars, junk mail and “beads” created from plastic and metal bottle caps, medical syringe caps, creamer ring tabs, plastic bread tags, beverage aluminum pull tabs, recycled plastic straws from various restaurants, Yupo plastic paper artwork, recycled rice/handmade art paper, plastic beads, waxed linen, one Chinese coin from my Mom.

ARTS ANNUAL 2022 bio Emily Lee Stehle is a Clearwater, FL-based mixed media artist specializing in fiber art who strives to make beautiful things out of discards. She began weaving traditional baskets more than 20 years ago learning from books and local weavers. She also took workshops with nationally recognized artists such as Flo Hoppe, Jerry Bleem, Kari Lonning, Marilyn Moore, Jo Stealey and Vladmir Yarish. Florida naturals, trash and other objects have been added to the supplies and upcycled into flat forms, baskets and sculptures using combined traditional weaving techniques. Emily has exhibited at Gasparilla Festival of the Arts 2018 and Florida CraftArt 2017 and won numerous national grants and awards at the Florida State Fair.
