I was raised on a river in rural New Brunswick and early on developed a keen interest in plants. I expanded those interests with formal studies in botany and ecology. The local flora informs my work and my creative process. My designs arise from my interpretations of nature and have evolved from traditional basketry, to vessels, and botanical sculptures, often scaled up to magnify detail. I work with an array of plant materials; wood, bark, roots, rush, grasses, and although my work varies in form and style what resonates in all my work is an underlying investigation into ways that plant materials can be used to spark interest and insight into the natural world. I employ harvest principles that embrace environmental sustainability.
