Artist Statement:
My current practice revolves around using found kitsch ceramic figurines and giving them a new skin or purpose. For me, these found objects exist outside of the normal chain of commerce. They are a type of resistance against commercialism — not a product that has been endlessly advertised. We have not been constantly coerced to buy them. I believe we live in a time that needs to emphasize the importance of reuse, a world where we are not constantly enticed by the latest, newest, shiny thing. I want to give new life and new meaning to these found objects, through transformation and reconsideration of what is “beautiful” in the modern world.
